About us

Recommended by the Sunday Times Magazine.

Welcome to the Little Cottage Tea Rooms, serving delicious cakes, cream teas, afternoon teas, plus a tasty brunch menu, we are committed to using high quality ingredients from local suppliers.

Nestled in the beautiful village of Glynde within the South Downs National Park, this is a delightful setting for enjoying morning coffee, a satisfying lunch or indulging in a traditional English afternoon tea, served with pretty vintage cups, saucers and teapots. Ideal after a walk in the country side, a visit to Glynde Place or before the opera at the famous Glyndebourne Opera House.

The Tea Room is fully licensed and available for private parties and functions whatever the occasion, so whether it’s a hen party, a birthday party or any other special event you can be sure it will be an elegant occasion.

We are closed for the winter season from 18th September 2016 and will re-open in March 2017.  We also open throughout the year for private parties by prior arrangement.

The village store will continue to offer light refreshments to eat in or take-away, providing a stop-point for walkers, cyclists, paragliders and passers by throughout the winter months.

Free car parking is available in the village car park, next to the recreation ground just behind the tea rooms or you can leave your car at home as Glynde and Beddingham train station is just a few minutes walk away.

    • Hi Mary, we have a large garden and dogs are very welcome in this area. A water bowl for dogs is always available. As it is a little cottage, inside the tea rooms we usually only permit guide dogs. Now the weather is cooler, we will be providing cosy blankets and hot bottles to take the chill off for those wishing to sit in the garden over the Autumn/Winter period. Thank you for getting in touch, we hope to welcome you in the near future.

  1. Had afternoon tea with my daughter and parents yesterday and just wanted to say how delicious it was. Looking forward to coming back in the summer and sitting in your lovely garden. Thank you.

  2. Hello Debbie and David, We just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our Afternoon tea today. The food was amazing and very tasty, your garden is beautiful and peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed just chatting away in the sunshine with no feeling of being rushed. David you were a brilliant host serving us our goodies. We especially enjoyed the bubbly. Thank you for the information about the walk from Lewes we will look into this further. We will most definitely be back. Kindest regards Jan, Lynne, Sarah and Dawn.
